What happened
Australia on 9 July issued an advisory about the threat posed by the Chinese state-sponsored cyber group Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) 40.
This advisory included case studies of APT40’s techniques and assessed that it conducts malicious cyber operations for China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS). These operations are assessed to remain a threat to Australia’s and other countries’ networks.
This advisory was published by the Australian Signals Directorate’s Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) and was co-authored with a range of counterpart agencies from the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, Germany, South Korea, and Japan.
