What happened
On Thursday, 4 April, The Australian revealed that a bipartisan delegation of five Coalition and Labor parliamentarians will head to Taiwan on Sunday for a six-day visit.
This delegation is scheduled to meet outgoing President Tsai Ing-wen and Foreign Minister Joseph Wu, as well as other senior Taiwanese government figures and officials.
Also on Sunday, Australia will join the United States, Japan, and the Philippines for joint naval exercises in the South China Sea.
