What happened

  • China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) announced that it will remove duties on Australian bottled wine effective 29 March.

  • Australia welcomed the decision and will discontinue its dispute proceedings in the World Trade Organization.

  • Australian wine exporters responded positively, with Treasury Wine Estates CEO Tim Ford saying it was a “momentous milestone” and “cause for celebration across the Australian wine industry.”
