What happened
Following a series of side events today and a call by the visiting Chinese delegation yesterday, the 8th Australia-China High Level Dialogue (HLD) will be held tomorrow in Adelaide.
Participants are expected to include, among others, former Australian ministers, current and former Chinese ambassadors, senior officials, and regional security experts.
As well as potential areas for bilateral cooperation, the HLD is likely to canvass a wide range of pointy bilateral disputes, including Australia’s concerns about unsafe and unprofessional Chinese military intercepts and China’s frustrations with Australian rejections of investments in critical minerals mining companies.
