Analysis of the Australia-China relationship

Welcome to Beijing to Canberra and Back (BCB), a fortnightly newsletter analysing the diplomatic, political, economic, security, and military developments shaping ties between Australia and China. BCB features analysis, data, and predictions—all focussed on the views from Beijing and Canberra.

Two disclaimers:

  1. Any given fortnight is likely to see a large number of big bilateral issues covered in the Australian and Chinese press. BCB will often only cover a fraction of these stories in detail.

  2. BCB will mostly contain rough and ready analysis. Please excuse any errors (typographical or otherwise). As always, objections, criticisms, and corrections are very much appreciated.

BCB is written by me, Benjamin Herscovitch. I'm a researcher at the Australian National University, where I focus on Australia-China relations and China’s economic statecraft. I also write and manage the companion Beijing to Canberra and Back website, which collates datasets visualising bilateral relations.
